To SF Chinatown and WVRC Rotarians extraordinaire,
What a successful club visit we had this year! Ted, Ron, and Andrew, congratulations to the Chinatown club for all the planning and work they did to host a wonderful joint meeting and weekend for our guests. Everything went so smoothly with wonderful support from First Lady Helen, Rose, Roger, PP Jim, Lily, and Junko and other club members who put in time and effort to add special touches, e.g. transferring Lily's flower arrangements to our home; organizing details of the program for the joint lunch meeting; getting coffee crunch cake for dessert! getting everyone tickets for the ferry; greeting ferry riders as they walked off the plank in Sausalito and putting together the restaurant lunch menu; and having Jim donate his oil painting to WVRC to acknowledge the watercolor Shirley gave us for our fundraiser auction.
Thank you WVRC members -- Ed, Dwight and Sook, Peter and Shirley, Ron and Guin, and Leo, for making the trip and spending meeting and social time with the friends you have made in SF. I am sorry Janice and I couldn't participate in all the activities but it sounds like you all found ways to rip up the town! hope the Top of the Mark is still standing after all that dancing! It was great to have good weather too for Fleet Week's aerial show, the ferry ride, and the afternoon in Sausalito. I love seeing the pictures of you marching with flags in the Italian Heritage Parade and thanks for supporting this event of Rotary. i hope you had a great time seeing SF ... from the streets!
I also want to express my heartfelt thanks to both clubs for the many ways you acknowledged me. It was totally unexpected, even overwhelming, and very humbling. I believe strongly that it takes many people to achieve Rotary goals and that achievements are accomplished because of team effort.
Ron, the slide show was more than enough but to top off that, the memory book is truly precious, including the captions and personal notes. Both were time consuming to put together I know. Thank you for a keepsake Janice and I will treasure. Thank you Roger for thinking of Rivoli, a convenient restaurant that we know about and are dying to try. Ted, thank you so much for the club's contribution to PLLUS, what a thoughtful and meaningful gesture. Ed, thank you for bringing the WVRC donation gift to Chinatown with the card signed by so many of your club members. I am really enjoying reading their greetings and messages.
Again, What a fantastic, unforgettable experience of Rotarian fellowship. And, we are already setting plans for 2012? WOW.
With much appreciation for lifelong memories of the 2011 WVRC-SF Chinatown visit,
George and Janice too
