Welcome to our new Rotary Year 2011-2012.

August 2011 update

Hello Everyone:

Well, it was another successful fundraiser event for our Club.  It was a very hectic time for our club as we took in donations right up to the last minute before the Sale.  With all of our willing volunteers, we were able to set up, sort and price most items the day before the big sale.  We want to appreciate and thank all of the volunteers who helped, with each member contributing their unique skills to set up, pricing, selling, cooking food, bringing family and friends, donating items, shopping,  packing, cleaning up, and driving to drop off the remaining items to further donate.  Everyone who came worked hard and sometimes had to deal with hard driving bargain seekers.

With our club it is always about the food and fun first; before getting down to business!!  We were treated to a home cooked breakfast from Chef Paul, cooked oxtail, potato salad and cake from Lily, hotdog gourmet spread from Sugo, baked brownies from Arlee / Roger; baked cake, cheese cake breakfast rolls and delicious chicken salad from Faye, scones and gourmet veggie chips from Suchi, lasagne, salad and bread from Rose, fruit salad from Rhonda and catered egg rolls from our returning new member, Mike and breakfast from Gayle and Celine!  Special thanks for members Sugo, Faye, Gayle, Jennifer and their respective spouses Cal, Bill and Richard who worked all 3 days!! Even Alex's wife, Judy came and arranged our linen area like a boutique shop. Much appreciation goes to Janice and Helen Abe, our godmother for their diligence to price the items, one by one.  Helen  stayed overnight for two nights and was up at sunrise ready to help us throughout the entire days!!  As well as the help and support of George and Janice, Janet Chen (succulents from her beautiful yard), Drew, Jeni, Don, Ron, could not have done any of this without all of your help and support.  Last, but not least goes to Ted, who came at the end with his crew to help load up the trucks and clean out the garage and yard with his yard blower--made the place look cleaner than ever!!

The ultimate was the children:  Zach Lammers (grandson of Sugo) and Aiden, Avery and Alexandra (Jeni)  made it even more fun!!!!

Bottom line is we had so much fun:  shopping for treasures all day long, eating, fellowship and lotsa of laughter and good times.  We found out that one of our member (he cooks) is a closet bargain shopper!!

Now for the amount of funds raised....  We made over $2,000 on Day 1 with the balance on Sunday, total raised is approx. $3,000 (unaudited)!  This is over 10% more than last year of $2700.

Please let me know if anyone needs Donation Receipts for themselves or family and friends who donated goods/funds, or where I need to send them to.  Pictures will be given to Ron to post on the website, if he has not done so already.

Thank you to all and can't wait to see what Fundraiser Chair Paul Chin has in store for us for a future fundrasing event, his meeting will be announced soon!

PS:  If I missed any names of volunteers, speak up, I cannot remember things that well any more.
